HALLANDALE, Fla. -- It is still nearly three months and many adventures away, but the Kentucky Derby cast its spell across the country's leading 3-year-old horses Thursday when 11 candidates were entered in the $200,000 Fountain of Youth Stakes, the first Grade I race for Derby hopefuls in the East.
The race will be run on Saturday at Gulfstream Park with D. Wayne Lukas returning to the stage with the 3-1 early favorite, High Yield, followed by Nick Zito and Greenwood Lake (4-1) and Shug McGaughey with Polish Miner (5-1).
