A 42-YEAR-OLD man whose death sentence for murder was commuted to 20 years in prison by the president in 1985 says his sentences for other offences should be counted as having run concurrently with this.
Trevor Alexander Claasen's sentences added up to 45 years. He was paroled in March with strict conditions and is to be on parole for the remainder of his sentences, about 20 years. He lives in Somerset West.
Should the Cape High Court grant the order he seeks, however, he will be a free man.
