Fed: Opp must apologise for MP s offensive comments govt

SYDNEY, Feb 29 AAP - New South Wales opposition leader Kerry Chikarovski must apologise
to Aborigines for offensive comments made by a National Party MP, the state government
said today.

The call follows the publication of a column written by the Member for Orange, Russell
Turner, in a weekend local newspaper.

Mr Turner said Aborigines would be better off if they were relocated from country towns,
such as Wilcannia in western NSW, to areas with higher employment opportunities.
