NSW: Big crowds drawn to Easter Show

SYDNEY, April 3 AAP - Sunshine and warm weather has attracted big crowds to the Sydney
Royal Easter Show at Homebush.

An event spokesman said more than 92,000 people had passed through the gates since
the show opened yesterday morning.

Organisers were confident one million people would attend the show despite two other
major attractions vying for public attention.

Now in its 181st year, the show is competing with the long-awaited reopening of Luna
Park and with western Sydney's soon to close Wonderland.

The Easter Sunday National Rugby League double-header at nearby Telstra Stadium is expected
to give the show an additional crowd boost.

More than 900,000 attended last year's show.

This year's Royal runs until April 15 and includes 16,000 animals, 15,000 competitors
and 1,000 commercial exhibitors.

An entry ticket this year includes the cost of public transport, and can be used to
travel on CityRail trains and Major Event Buses.
