New season, familiar rings // Clemens triumphs on slam by Clark

Roger Clemens had a taste of amateur umpiring Monday and liked itbetter than the real thing.

Clemens, pitching while his suspension is delayed, allowed one run in eight innings and JackClark hit a grand slam in his first game with the Red Sox as Bostonbeat Toronto 6-2.

Clemens, 10-4 lifetime against Toronto, allowed six hits, struckout six and walked none as former minor league umpire Tim Higginscalled the balls and strikes.

"I asked him what he'd be doing tomorrow," Clemens said. "Hesaid he was a chef, so I guess he'll be going back to being a cheftomorrow."
